Have you ever heard a radio ad and thought, “Hm, I could do better than that”? Here’s your chance to prove it.

This is an open call to all students across South Africa. Whether you study design, writing or any other field, if you have a passion for creativity and a love for this country, we want to hear from you. If you’ve got a voice, a perspective, and a love for your mother tongue and country, we want to hear from you.

We’re calling on you to create a radio advertisement in one of South Africa’s official indigenous languages, drawing from what fills you with pride about being South African or your deep love for this nation. The winning script should capture a meaningful cultural or national truth and resonate with the genuine South African spirit.

This is about capturing the heart of South African authenticity.

What you need to know

This isn’t about how long you’ve been in the industry or if you’ve been in the industry at all. It’s about what you have to say.

•  Your script must be around 30 seconds long (about 75 words) and written in one of South Africa’s official indigenous languages.

•  We’re looking for ads that celebrate South Africa in a genuine, personal way. Stories that come from the heart

•  The ten winning scripts will be selected, produced and aired  — one in each indigenous language — across SABC radio stations.

•  The top entry will receive R20,000

•  Entry is free, and the deadline to submit is 17 November 2025.

You don’t need a title or a team to take part. Just a strong idea, a love for Mzansi, and something worth saying.

Take the chance

Submissions are open to all students.
