Programme Summary
The Pendoring Indigenous Language Imbizo is set to celebrate the significance of indigenous languages in South Africa. With a focus on technology, digital storytelling, and media, it highlights the need to preserve indigenous languages in the digital age, aligning with the Pendoring Awards’ mission to celebrate multilingualism, creativity, and innovation. The Indigenous Language Imbizo will feature dynamic discussions and presentations by top industry professionals. Themes include the role of indigenous languages in the digital world, shifts in language news, and projects promoting indigenous languages in South Africa.

As part of the UN International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032), the Indigenous Language Imbizo is a regular event hosted by Pendoring to champion the creative development and investment in South Africa's diverse indigenous languages.
Through captivating talks, panel discussions, and rapid-fire pitches, the Imbizo brings together a vibrant community of stakeholders – from linguists and creatives to policymakers and community leaders. Together, we’re shaping a more multilingual future, amplifying indigenous voices, and celebrating the richness of South Africa’s linguistic heritage.
